Terri started sailing in college when she attended St. Mary’s College of Maryland. She joined the St. Mary’s College Sailing Team racing 420’s. Inspired by a professor who lived aboard, she made the decision to someday buy a boat and live-aboard.

In 2010, Terri embarked on the journey to buy a live-aboard cruising boat. As Terri recalls, the experience was rushed and confusing. Turns out those teaching and organizational skills would come in handy years later when Terri became a yacht broker while working as a middle school teacher. Terri vowed to educate and explain the boat buying and selling process to her valued clients. Since Terri never does anything “half-way” her part-time yacht broker business quickly became a full time endeavor! Terri’s 24/7 work ethic, combined with honesty, integrity and commitment to the customer experience has made Terri a successful yacht broker.

In early 2024 Terri decided to grow her business and start Adventure Yacht Sales focusing on helping clients make their adventures become reality. She opened her office in Stuart and quickly expanded to the Carolinas and the Chesapeake.

Terri has since sold her first Island Packet and purchased an Island Packet 380 to keep in the Chesapeake where she spends the summer. Terri recently purchased a completely refit 1993 Island Packet 29 that survived a hurricane. Legacy represents Terri’s affinity for “legacy” Island Packets and serves as command central for Adventure Yacht Sales in Stuart, FL.

Terri is active in the Seven Seas Cruising Association and Women Who Sail. She is a US Sailing Instructor and holds a USCG 100 ton Masters license. She splits her time between Solomons in the Chesapeake and Stuart, Florida.
